“Yes to support systems from the government, but if we don’t get people understanding how their minds work, you transplant them into a system and they’re still going to have their own misunderstandings of thought, but if we keep sorting that out, then we can eliminate that part and people will go on their journeys in a very different way.” – Jacquie Forde
Enjoy this short video with Jacquie Forde, Steph Wilson and Kaye Taylor about a quiet revolution in Scotland.
“You have to look at state of mind, mindset and understanding how life really works in order to get any shifts.”
Jacquie Forde starts off this conversation sharing that she feels the political systems currently in place are antiquated and need change. She would love to see more local politics rather than central politics. She can see that certain individuals in the government are consciously aware and she feels drawn to working with those.
Jacquie talks about how politicians are no different than us, we’re all the same. They’re not an authority, they might be an authority in their job or have seen more deeply in a particular but not in every area. Just like we can have clarity, come from the heart or from the intellect, they can too and shift and change in any moment.
She talks about how policy papers in government are full of “thoughts”, not getting to the crux of things, looking at things after behaviour. It’s great that children from disadvantaged backgrounds have as much opportunity to go to schools than from affluent backgrounds but if you’re in a community where there is a lot of misunderstanding around thought, then creating all this financial and educational plans makes no difference. You have to look at state of mind, mindset and understanding how life really works in order to get any shifts.
Jacquie shares that she’s all for support systems, but if we don’t get people understanding how their minds work, you transplant them into a system and they’re still going to have their own misunderstandings of thought, but if we keep sorting that out, then we can eliminate that part, people will go on journeys in a different way. Systems are there with the intention to help but they’re not being fully exploited in the way that it can be because of the understanding that people have, they may find themselves reverting back to old situations because their current consciousness says I’m not good enough, I’m not deserving.
Jacquie knows where the understanding of the Three Principles fits into all of this, she can see how someone mental health can become more resilient, constantly evolving, strengthening. That’s the joy for Jacquie, knowing that she’s sharing something with people that stays with them for the rest of their lives, it becomes a place that people live from rather than another teaching. It’s coming from truth and the ripple effect is that “pay it forward” naturally occurs.
